The project was inspired by the customer's desire to optimise spaces within their single-family building first built in the 1960s.
Several options were taken into consideration during a preliminary analysis for the energy efficiency enhancement of the building-plant system. This resulted in the installation of a high performance roof, both in summer and winter conditions, with particular focus on thermal surge lag and reduction, for a considerable reduction in summer heat loads, thus avoiding the need for cooling installations.
The technical design of installations foresaw a high efficiency condensation boiler integrated with a system of solar collectors, for the collection of dhw, coupled with a double emission system: underfloor heating for the fitness area, basement floor, and cast iron recovery radiators on the ground and first floors.
